Teeth whitening consists of 3 types:
- Office type whitening
- Home type whitening
- Combined whitening
Office type whitening
The gel applied on anterior surfaces of the teeth is activated by laser light in office conditions. The session lasts about 15 to 20 minutes and sessions are implemented according to the patient need by an interval of 3 to 4 days.
Home type whitening
The gel is applied to the inner surfaces of the plates which are prepared specifically for the person and plates are placed before going to bed. It should be applied about 7 to 10 days. The therapy is longer than office type whitening.
Combined whitening
This is the combination of office type and home type whitening methods. An efficient whitening is achieved within a short time.

A mild sensitivity may appear on the teeth during whitening. However, the sensitivity is eliminated by sensitivity blocking gels.
What should be cared during whitening?
Since teeth continue to be whitened during and within 24 to 48 hours following whitening, consuming colourful foods should be avoided.
Do my teeth become white after scaling?
Scaling and whitening are two different procedures Polishing after scaling would clear the spots on the teeth; therefore, teeth appear brighter; however, original colours of the teeth remains constant. Whitening therapy should be implemented for whiter teeth.
Does Teeth Whitening Cause Damage to the Teeth?
